Cleanup At Door Nine
Camera 9 covers the Sub-Level 03 service corridor outside Door 9, the entrance to the Records Annex at Site-19. The recording is six seconds long and opens at 02:47. A man in a grey sweatshirt kneels in the middle of the corridor with his hands raised. Site records identify him as ████████████████████████ . An armed member of the site's retention team, known to staff as the cleanup unit, stands between the man and the camera with a rifle raised. The alarm light above the corridor is red.
At 00:01 the team member fires once. The clerk falls forward and crawls away from the shooter for the remaining five seconds. At 00:03.5 two more members of the team enter at the far end of the corridor and advance without hurry. Nobody speaks, and nobody runs.
The official incident log for that night lists the corridor as unoccupied and records no discharge of weapons. The clerk's personnel file states that he ████████████████████████ . A review of his final day found that he had ████████████████████████ from the Records Annex.
Camera 9 should not have recorded any of this. It was decommissioned and its recorder wiped ████████████████████████ . The file was found in the Annex's own index, filed under the clerk's employee number, and its access log shows that it has been opened ████████████████████████ .
Maintenance reports that the floor outside Door 9 shows a dark stain after every cleaning, ████████████████████████ . It follows the path the clerk crawled, and it has reached ████████████████████████ .
